Town of Apex, NC Fire and Police Department Substation

Comprised of a police substation, EMS quarters for two, and fire facilities for ten full time firefighters, the three bay, drive through station reflects the small town character that Apex, North Carolina portrays. The traditional look of the materials and the scale at which they were used, united the surrounding area’s architectural language, responding to the personality of Apex.

The Public Safety Station includes a police office, EMS office server room, and Fire office, accompanied by a radio-report room off of the entry lobby. The fire department staff enjoys a day room off of the kitchen with space for a dining table. The sleep rooms surround the shower facilities. All of the building’s spaces have direct access to the apparatus bays. Supporting the bays are a decontamination room, tool shop, and storage spaces. The mezzanine supports training tools and rigs for firefighter’s training and education. A diesel generator can support the entire building upon power outages. Station #4 will greatly add to the efficiency and dependability to a growing and vibrant community.
