City of White House, TN Fire Department Headquarters

Stewart Cooper Newell Architects teamed up with Kline Swinney Associates to design the new 11,990 sq. ft. fire department. The Main Floor gross sq. footage is 10,800; the Mezzanine is 1,190 sq. ft.

The station provides private, coed sleeping spaces for firefighters along with a training room that will seat approximately 50 people. This space is also available for public meetings and can be shut off from the remainder of the station along with the Kitchen and public restrooms. The HVAC system is geothermal, and roof and site water runoff are channeled to the Pump Test Pit which holds water to be used in testing of the fire truck pumping apparatus. Also, the majority of roofs are white to cut down on heat gain.

The exterior facades are masonry on metal studs at the occupied portion of the building and masonry on masonry at the truck bays. The building structure is steel; the walls are painted; most floors are stained concrete with epoxy at the truck bays, and the ceilings are typically acoustic lay-in. SCN-Architects served as the design consultant for the local firm, Kline Swinney Associates.
