Station No. 1 was designed to replace the out-dated existing Station No. 1 which the Fire Department had out-grown long ago. The new station utilizes the site of the old station. Since the previous station included a basement, extensive site work was required along with demolition. In addition, due to the regional climate, the project has been phased to maximize construction efforts during the warmer months of the year. The station sleeps twelve fire fighters with adequate shower, kitchen, dining, and dayroom facilities. The station is also equipped with five drive-thru bays, a turn-out gear room, decon room, tool shop, exercise room, and a large training room. SCN-Architects served as the design consultant for the local firm, Plunkett Raysich Architects.
