City of North Port, FL Fire Station No. 82

Station No. 82 was based on the original North Port Fire Station prototype developed by Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects for the City of North Port. The prototype was easily modified to incorporate a Police Substation while still retaining the hardened exterior shell that will withstand over category 3 winds. The prototype was modified in order to fit within the Spanish Floridian aesthetic which the City envisions as its new design standard. This station also incorporates many sustainable elements in compliance with the Florida Green Building Coalition Standards. Some of the green improvements include a rainwater harvesting system, solar hot water heater, efficient lighting, and low/no VOC finishes. SCN Architects is currently working on a third Fire Station, based on this upgraded prototype.
