Manhattan, KS Fire Station No. 5

The Manhattan, KS Fire Station #5 was designed in cooperation with Anderson-Knight Architects. Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects consulted as public safety design experts. We managed the early portions of the design in order for our experience to guide to design in an appropriate direction from the beginning of the project.

The two bay station is designed for the expansion of additional bays and sleeping rooms. If expansion is necessary in the future, the expansion will be facilitated by the current design. Off of the apparatus bays a decon room, compressor room, tool shop, EMS storage room, storage mezzanine, and outside storage room all have direct access to the bays. Off of the lobby is a public restroom, offices, community room, and an IT closet. Off of the day room is the kitchen, six sleep rooms, three private bathrooms, exercise room, laundry room, and storage spaces. A public restroom is available to the public from the nearby pedestrian path. The whole building is protected by a diesel generator, and a sprinkler system.

This new fire station will provide an expanded network of public safety for the Manhattan, Kansas area.
