City of Asheville, NC Fire Station No. 11

To keep up with the need to protect both its citizens and millions of acres of forestland, the City of Asheville needed to increase the coverage of its fire service. Station No. 10 is located in a growing commercial area and was designed with a flat roof and an industrial exterior design to mimic its surrounding buildings. In addition to the fire service, Station No. 10 also includes a Police Substation for this growing area of Asheville. The 2 bay station includes sleep rooms, kitchen , day room, and offices. To ensure the station remains functional and safe it was designed for heavy snow loads, having the ability to rely on auxiliary power in the event of major winter storms, and increased seismic structural strength since Asheville lies on a major fault line.
